About WCIT2018

World Conference On Islamic Thought & Civilization (WCIT) is now part of Perak State Government event, and has been organized by the Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS) since 2012, with participants coming from more than 21 countries. The Conference is organized under the Royal Patronage of DYMM Paduka Seri Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-lah, the Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan. The central purpose of conceiving and convening the Conference is to provide a platform and avenue for regional and international scholars, intellectuals and professionals to express themselves in a dynamic and rigorous exchange of ideas; all for the purpose of addressing real and actual, and contemporary problems affecting the current world.

The Conference now intends to focus more on what it can offer in terms of real life experiences; takeaways that could be followed up with actual programs of action. It is with this practical approach that USAS plans to organize its 5th World Conference on Islamic Thought and Civilization (WCIT 2018) with the theme of ‘Securing the Future’.

WCIT 2018 has narrowed down 5 subthemes to be addressed during the Conference. The subthemes to be covered in the Conference include :

* Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow

* Economy Matters

* Healthy Environment

* Cultural Language of Religion

* Humanity, Security, and the Arts

WCIT 2018 aims to explore the philosophy and the strategies for social harmony and political stability; for communities to express their varied social and political expectations of each other; and for participants to express and share their personal experiences and knowledge in dealing with socio-political and religious conflicts, and to offer strategies in conflict resolution.

Through discussions and exchanges, it is hoped that the Conference will generate the sufficient and necessary conditions for a more realistic analysis and assessment of global events and conflicts within social and political realities
